Gel lubrificant oil
The Challenge
A manufacturer of exhaust systems for automobiles and industrial vehicles approached us looking to replace a chloroparaffin-based lubricating oil they were using for bending stainless steel pipes. The desired lubricating oil needed to be chlorine-free to prevent oxidation initiation on surfaces and be easily washable.
Our Solution
The client specifically emphasized the ease of oil removal, although this was secondary to eliminating chloroparaffins. Conventional lubricating oils soil both the external and internal surfaces of the pipe, making subsequent washing phases complex and costly.
For this reason, we conceived a gel product that could be applied locally only to the bending area, significantly simplifying subsequent washing steps. During the formulation of the new product, we sought to use raw materials that, by “soiling” as little as possible, wouldn’t even require washing.
Naturally, particular attention was paid to making it as safe as possible for the environment and operators, minimizing its odor as well.
Results
We developed a gel lubricating oil, based on soaps, to be applied with a brush or spatula, which we named IDROLUBE INOX GEL NEW.
After bending operations, it may not need to be removed, providing good protection to the manufactured parts. The lubricating oil residue that remains on the surfaces does not create problems for any subsequent processing phases.
Should removal be necessary, for example, for aesthetic reasons, hot water, preferably aided by mechanical action like a pressure washer jet, will suffice. This, of course, makes the washing phases faster and more economical than before.
IDROLUBE INOX GEL NEW is non-flammable.
